This is the end result of the design I was commissioned to do by Harris Rebar in Fort Wayne as part of the IPFW Sculpture with Purpose 50th anniversary celebration of the university’s founding. It is an effort to create functional art in downtown Fort Wayne and on the campus of IPFW sponsored by local businesses and designed by local artists. This sculpture is located on the IPFW campus on the south side of the science building.
The design went through a vast amount of changes from its original concept. It’s inception began as design submission #2 seen in my original post. My mother, Lea Powers (former IPFW Creative Director), spent a while working with the fabricator to help finalize a design that was able to be created within the project’s budget; she deserves a good deal of the credit for bringing this sculpture to life.
